Friends With Flair

TGIF!
I made this for week 3 of the Throwdown Challenge over at Memorable Seasons. The challenge was to use white space, misting and a mask, and this is what I came up with.
The doily and scallop stamp on the upper right hand corner are from the beautiful Bella Doilies set by Unity. The  stamps are so BIG and perfect for scrapbooking or cardmaking and they stamp beautifully!

This sweet little card is 3x3 and is made with A Muse cloud paper and the "happy" sentiment from Ippity's House a Home. The gingham banner is made from Love My Tapes fabric tape and Martha Stewart baker's twine.

Next up is the fabulous Angie! You will not be disappointed!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Birthdays Are The Best!

That's what I am trying to make myself believe as I quickly approach the big 4-0!!!  My husband surprised me the other day by telling me to pack my bag for this coming weekend! Him and I are going to New York City overnight to celebrate my big day and I could not be more excited or surprised! I am going to miss Luke, but it's only one night, he will survive (better than I will without him! LOL)
I have to admit, one of the first things I did was log on to my computer and map quest to see how far the hotel is from The Ink Pad! I know, a little obsessed, a little pathetic! LOL! But, the good news is, we are only 1.7 miles from the only stamping store in NYC! YAY! I've already mentioned to Neil that I want to pop in there! We'll see!
So, HERE'S where we are staying, it looks so sophisticated and posh, I guess I better shop for a new outfit this week!  Can't seem to find anything in my wardrobe that would blend in this scene!
Wish me luck finding something to wear! My almost 40-year old body isn't what it used to be and makes shopping depressing and difficult at times! Which reminds me of my never-ending resolution to lose weight-ugh! Okay, I am going to look on the bright side and think "sophisticated"! Maybe the right outfit will appear if I stay postitve~hey, a girl can dream, can't she?!?!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope you had a sweet day :) I took Luke to karate and then Neil picked up a nice Italian dinner and met us at home after karate! Yummy and no clean up~just the way I like it!
I saw this Valentine idea "pop"ping up all over the internet so I gave it a try. I don't have Photoshop, so I used Picnik to make the white background and the text. Since I am a beginner the edges were a little sketchy and I made a big boo-boo down by Luke's hip so I used the handy little conversation heart "tattoo" to cover my mistake! Not too bad for a beginner, I guess!

I made these cute little paper bag Valentine's for my sisters and cousins for our girl's weekend. Lynn had these on her blog at Christmas time and I thought they were SO cute! Super easy, inexpensive and adorable.

Now I am off to snuggle with my boys~enjoy your Valentine evening :)
HUGS AND HEARTS!

Friends With Flair~A Little Summer, A Little Winter

I did a summer layout of my little surfer dude for week 1 of The Throwdown Challenge at Memorable Seasons...here is the result~

In the bottom right corner you will see a little "Unity Goodness!" in the form of Beach Days & Sun Rays, one of my FAVORITE Unity sets, since I am a beach girl!

And then we move on to a little Winter Wonderland! The first layout, or the "Winter" portion is a sketch from "valerie salmon, got sketch"?  I love working with sketches when I am feeling crafty but not very clever! So this first LO does not have any Unity (shame on me!)
But, NEVER FEAR! As we move on to the "Wonderland" page, I made up for it with these two cute as pie SNOWMEN from the January 2011 Kit of the Month! C'mon, does it really get any cuter than this?!?!?!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I really appreciate each and every comment and visit, it really makes my day!
Have a great weekend, I am ENJOYING my day off today in honor of the late, great Abraham Lincoln! Gearing up for a BIG girls night out tomorrow night. It would have been my mom's 71st birthday and is also the anniversary of my aunt's death, so my sisters and my cousins (and I) will be having dinner in Atlantic City and spending the night in order to be together and keep ourselves from getting too sad :(
I really believe they would want us to be celebrating and spending time TOGETHER instead of being sad.
Enjoy whatever the weekend has in store for you!

P.S. if  you are NOT a Unity Kit of the Month member, WHAT are you waiting for?!?! Seriously?!

Hello

Happy H{ippity} Hop Monday! Did everyone watch the Superbowl? I went to a party and the hosts are HUGE Green Bay Packers fans so it was pretty exciting, a happy place to be!
I made this card following a sketch but for the life of me I cannot find the sketch or the source of it right now...if you recognize it, please let me know so I can give credit! *thanks*! I am entering this into this week's challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room, the theme is Sweethearts and there is a beautiful and *sweet* inspiration photo.
I used last year's Pink Paislee Valentine line, with little hearts on the cloud. Love the colors in this line so much and the colors of the challenge are pink, green, brown & neutral. Using doilies, polka dots, flowers, lace, ribbons ... OR ALL! ! So, I have the pink, little touch of green, brown and neutral along with hearts and lace. The sentiment is from Ippity's How YOU Doin'? and the cute little tree is from Bella Blvd's Bella Trees by Unity.
Click here to visit Mary, the next stop on the hop, or visit the Ippity blog for the full list!

Deja' Vu

You're probably thinking "I've seen this before" and you would be right! Sorry to repost this card so soon, but Papertrey is celebrating their 4 year anniversary with some festivities this month. Since I am a fairly new fan of Papertrey Ink, I have only created 2 cards so far using the one PTI stamp set that I own! As part of their anniversary, they are aksing that you post (or re-post) your favorite PTI project from 2010, so I didn't have much to choose from.
With that said, here again is my cupcake card that I recently posted!

I apologize for the repetition, but there is a great prize at stake here! Check out this link for more details.

I'm A Little Teapot

The Shabby Tea Room is having a DT call! I have been following this blog for a long time now and LOVE all of the inspiration there. I love the look of Shabby Chic designs and decided that I was going to challenge myself to create more "shabby" projects this year. When I saw the DT call, I thought, "why not?!" Perfect way to start creating outside of my comfort zone. I don't think I really have a "go to" style, it all depends on my mood and how much time I have when I sit down to create something.
This little teapot card is what I wound up with and I have to admit I am pretty thrilled with it. I love shaped cards, so that's all it takes for me! The inspiration photo they provided is below and as you can see I went with a pretty literal interpretation with the teapot and had so much fun with this.
Thanks for looking and wish me luck! I adore The Shabby Tea Room and would love to work with them!

Friends WIth Flair

TGIF!

The sentiment on my card is from the Unity October 2010 Kit of the Month. I used some old Cosmo Cricket paper and Love My Tapes Fabric Sheets to die cut the trees. I cut the sentiment panel from my scalloped oval Nestabilities and underlined the sentiment with Recollections pearls.
The next stop on the hop today is Gwen, or stop by the Unity Blog later this morning to see the full list of Friends with Flair!
